Interesting Facts
The Javan rhinoceros is closely related to the Indian rhinoceros and lives in the rainforests in the West of the Indonesian island of Java. Its horn is used in Asian medicine, where it is more expensive than gold. In recent years, the population has therefore decreased from around 60 animals to 18 animals (as of November 2023; no more recent data available).
