They hiss and they rattle, they dart across the floor and have long venomous fangs. The fear of snakes is widespread and is called ophiophobia.

Only 10% of snakes are venomous, but they still manage to kill an estimated 30,000 humans a year. Most don’t mean to attack humans, but others are very aggressive and will bite wildly.
