Dolphin

The dolphin is a kind of toothed whale that lives in almost all seas in the world. There are even dolphins that live in rivers in Asia (river dolphins).

Dolphins Are Self-Aware

The dolphin is one of few animals that have metacognition. This term describes the ability to think about your own thoughts, opinions and awareness. An example: in tests, dolphins have been able to answer “yes” or “no” or even “I don’t know”. This lets them show that they are aware that they don’t know.

Dolphins Watch TV

Dolphins take what they hear and put into context. This lets them understand when they’re shown moving images on the TV. Chimpanzees can also do this, but they need training first.

Dolphins Have a Good Memory

They can even react to things or answer questions about things they can’t see. This means they’ve saved the object in their memory. The dolphin is one of few animals that recognizes its reflection – and they have even more impressive skills.
