The California condor was hunted so much that they died out in the wild between 1987 and 1992. The reason? Farmers (wrongly) thought that the condors attacked calves and lambs, so they became popular trophies. Thankfully, the California condor was bred in captivity and reintroduced to the wild from 1992.
