Donkey or Horse - What’s the Difference?

6. Working Animal

Riding and Pack Animals

A horse can pull and carry much heavier weights than a donkey can. Even if it’s completely normal in some countries for donkeys to be ridden by adults and made to carry huge loads so you can hardly see them: The donkeys are in pain and develop health problems.

According to the English charity “The Donkey Sanctuary”, donkeys live to nine years old in Ethopia, and around 14 years old in Kenya and Mexico. But when treated well, donkeys can live to 50 years old! So, small children riding a donkey for a short while isn’t a problem, but anything else would be harmful.
