Dog Names From A to Z:

Here are awesome dog name ideas starting with D!

We find Daisy especially adorable. It means daisy and ends with an "i". For example, very magical for a small, female dog. Dobby, Doc, and Dino would be original names for a male dog.

If your dog's coat is two colors, for example black and white Domino might be perfect. It is neutral and can therefore be used equally for females and males.

About Famous Dogs and Their Names

Famous Dogs Beginning With D

• Donnie – loves geometric shapes

Doberman Pinscher Donnie rose to fame in 2007 because he liked to arrange his toys in geometric shapes, so in circles, triangles or rows. He also liked to line up his soft toys so that their hands touched (like they were holding hands). Or with their arms around each other like they were hugging. Donnie did this alone, even if nobody was watching, and without seeing anybody do it first.

To be sure that his owner Carol Young wasn’t playing a prank, video cameras were set up in her garden. They proved that Donnie had no outside help. Carol saved him from an animal shelter, where he spent a whole year in a cage. He was very reserved at first, but his loving owner built up his trust and he’s been enjoying life with her and his toys ever since.

• Dudley – the scatter brain

Star of the cartoon T.U.F.F. Puppy. Agent Puppy is Dudley Puppy, a chaotic but lovable dog that has vowed to fight crime in Petropolis. Like many mixed-breed dogs, he is very tough and tenacious. He isn’t a cross between two breeds, but every single one (!).

Life Savers Beginning With D

• Duke – baby saver

In 2012, little Harper was in his bedroom in Connecticut (USA) and started to struggle for breath. The family dog, Duke, was the only one who noticed. He jumped on the parents’ bed, barking, howling and shaking. He’d never done anything like it before! The parents were confused. What was Duke trying to tell them? They went into Harper’s room to check on him, and found that he had stopped breathing. Harper recovered in the hospital. Without Duke, the little boy would probably have died. Dogs are true life savers!

Record Breakers Beginning With D

• Daz – no dog can bark as loud as he can

A German Shepherd called Daz can bark louder than any other dog. His bark is 108 dB. That’s louder than standing right next to a car horn (90 dB), and not much quieter than a jet plane taking off (130 dB). This record was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records (2009).

• Dosha - can’t be beat

Dosha is a name for dogs that just never give up. On April 15th 2003, at just 10 months old, she ran away and was run over by a car. That’s bad enough! She was then shot in the head by a policeman trying to end her suffering. But that’s still not all: she was put in a sack and kept in a freezer at the pound. When someone went to look at her two hours later, she was sitting there. Full of life! She made it into the Guinness Book of World Records under “Most fatal incidents in one day survived by a dog”. Does this dog have as many lives as a cat? Maybe she does. By the way, Dosha is a mutt.
