Ugliest Dog 2008: Gus
Gus was crowned the ugliest dog in the world in 2008. He probably never dreamed of becoming so famous. This Chinese Crested was rescued from an “inhumane” home by owner Jeanenne and her daughter Janie. He has no hair, lost an eye in a fight with a cat and only has three legs. One had to be removed due to skin cancer. Sadly, this little pooch died from his cancer a few months after his victory at the contest at the age of 9.
Ugliest Dog 2007: Elwood
Elwood didn’t have an easy start to life. When he was four weeks old, his breeder wanted to end his life because he was too ugly for anyone to buy. But unlucky Elwood caught a break: he was taken in by his current owner Karen Quigley and the two are now inseparable. At the contest back in 2007, she said: “There are NO ugly dogs!” and that Elwood was the “sweetest thing” she’d ever seen.
